What does the Municipal Council do?
The Municipal Council takes decisions on behalf of the residents of Wageningen. The Municipal Executive prepares these decisions and also implements them. The Municipal Council checks whether the Municipal Executive does so in the proper way. test
Who is in the Municipal Council?
The Municipal Council of Wageningen comprises 25 council members from eight political parties. Each faction (party) may be supported by supporting faction members. The Mayor is the chair of the Municipal Council.
Agenda and meeting documents
The Municipal Council uploads all public agendas and meeting documents to the council information system. You can also livestream or rewatch the Municipal Council meetings via this system.
Political Evenings
The Municipal Council meets every two weeks. These meetings are known as ‘Political Evenings’. Political Evenings usually comprise three parts: a round-table discussion, an opinion discussion and the council meeting itself. You may also contribute to Political Evenings.
Political Evenings are open to the public. You can attend the meetings in the Council Chamber of the Town Hall or online via the council information system. You can also rewatch meetings later on via this system.

- The Registrar supports the Municipal Council. They ensure that the meetings run smoothly.
- They provide advice on the handling of topics and mediate if council members need help from civil servants.
- They assist the Municipal Council in communicating with residents and with the Municipal Executive.

The Court of Auditors
The Court of Auditors is an independent committee that helps the Municipal Council in its monitoring tasks. The Court of Auditors investigates whether municipal policy has been implemented correctly and achieved results. The Court of Auditors also checks that no funds have been squandered.
