Multiple discussions may be held at the same time. Political Evenings are open to the public. You can attend the meetings in the Council Chamber of the Town Hall or online via the Council information system(Externe link) . You can also rewatch meetings later on via this website.

Round-table discussion with opportunity to contribute yourself

During the round-table discussions, you can give your opinion on a council proposal. The Municipal Council may use the information arising from these discussions to make their decisions. The Council may also ask questions to you or to the alderman responsible for the content of a proposal. Your contribution may lead to an amendment (a change to the text of a proposed decision) or a motion (a question or assignment for the Mayor and aldermen (committee)).

Would you like to contribute during a round-table decision? Read about how to sign up to contribute.(Externe link)

Opinion discussion

During the opinion discussions, council members try to convince one another of their perspectives. They also see whether there is support for any motions or amendments. A motion is a question or assignment for the Mayor or aldermen. An amendment is a proposal for a change to be made to part of the text in a council proposal.

Standing conversations

During the break in a Political Evening, you can chat with the council members about topics that are not on the agenda. Or you can tell them about your ideas. You can do so at a standing table. We cannot say in advance what will happen with your idea or opinion. It may lead to a motion or to contact with the committee or a civil servant.

Council meeting

During the council meeting, the council takes decisions. The council usually takes decisions on topics that were discussed during the previous Political Evening.

Political Evenings are recorded. If you find it uncomfortable to hear or watch yourself on a recording, then you may also send your input to raadsgriffie@wageningen.nl. Or you can choose a spot at the back of the Council Chamber if you wish to watch the meeting from the public gallery.
